Our first evening in Dunedin was filled with almosts. We went to the Cadbury factory, but missed the last tour by about 10 minutes. We went to the Speights Brewery after that, but missed the last tour again by about 10 minutes. We went to a bar for a drink, but were only the only people there. I guess we were a couple of hours early. Since our lunch had mostly blown into the water, we were hankering for something good to eat. We had aquired several eatery so we had quite a few choices for dinner. We flippe through several of them, not really finding anything too great, until we stumbled upon an ad for a restaraunt called "Great Taste Buffet." Most buffets in the US, Old Country, Izzy's and the like are all pretty gross. For $10-$15 you usually get a tummy ache and diareah in the next hour or so. Great Taste however offered all you can eat sushi, a salad bar, several different kinds of pasta, and all for around $14 NZ, $10 US. We checked in, expecting the worst, but were instead greeted by a friendly staff, and more than enough good food. Their sushi selection was minimal, only carrot and cucumber sushi, but I ate thirty of them anyway. Their salad bar turned out to be above average, and they also had a few different fresh fruits and vegetables. It wasn't the greatest selection of all time, but it was definately one of the best, and cheapest eats we've come across so far (i realize this isn't really a New Zealand restaraunt, but it was really good). After dinner we hiked up the steepest street in Dunedin. Every year they have a race to see who can get to the top and back down the fastest and I believe the record is around a minute and a half. It took us about half an hour to get up and down, but we did stop to take pictures. We once again camped out in front of someone's house.
