We started our trip off with lots of excitement but things definitely slowed down as mom and dad are both working this week.
Activites were a bit of a struggle as everyone was also still recovering from colds. Remy has a lingering but luckily fading cough, mom has a recurring sore throat and sinus pain, and dad has some weird goo in his nose. Origin of said goo is undetermined. Emma seems to be doing fine.
On top of that We've had off and on rain and some high wind gusts, but overall the weather has been mild if a bit chilly. The heater in our trailer works well.
Despite our predicemts everyone was still able to have some fun. Remy and mom went to the pool for a swim, and we all went on several beach walks.
The beach is very flat so the difference in tides is extreme. One hour the water is right up against the bulkhead and a little later you can hardly see it anymore it is so far out. There is also a nice playground that we visited several times. Remys favorite game is boat captain, in which someone gives him a task, say rescuing a whale, and he then radios his helpers and tells them what to do. Kind of like a game of middle manager.
Our evenings usually consisted of dinner, books, and early bed time. Hopefully everyone will be fully rested for when we roll out again.
excitement levels kicked up a notch on Wednesday. Firstly, dad watched some animal control folks (their credentials were unclear) remove a goose that seemed to be either a bit confused or sick. The goose was loitering just on the other side of the bulkhead and it's ambivalence toward people was concerning. Emma and dad had actually stumbled across the goose on their morning walk (literally almost tripped over it), and mom let the site owners know. The extraction consisted of wrapping the goose in a towel and transporting it in large black tub. Very exciting indeed.
Mom and Remy meanwhile went to check out the sites and sounds of Coos Bay. They visited the local history museum, an old train yard, and a sweet shop. Remy raved about the crane train (he repeated several times that that is actually a real thing) and the chocolate ice cream.
