Remy's Rad Road Trip 2022 pt. 30

After a mega load of beach time in Ventura, we decided we needed a change of scenery. Just kidding, we love the beach.  We headed north about 40 minutes until we arrived at sunny Santa Barbara. Our RV spot was slightly less scenic, backed up against the highway, but it was only a few minutes from downtown.

Santa Barbara is a college town, home to UCSB, and that means lots of coffee shops! College kids and professors love fancy coffee. Luckily, we do too. After setting up the RV we headed straight for Dune Coffee Roasters. Dune is one of the first coffee shops we've stopped at where Dad had tried their beans before. Feeling adventurous, Dad ordered a $12 cup of coffee. It was very tasty. The high price was primarily a result of the coffee being of the Geisha variety. After coffee we headed to the movie theater. Just kidding again, of course we went to the beach!

Emma got to do some mega running at the off leash dog park, and Remy stretched his legs at the off leash child park. We took a nice long walk and looked at some of the different houses up on the cliff. The stairs to get up to them looked like an adventure all to themselves. After beaching we sat on the patio of a nice restaurant and had a drink and some appetizers. Enjoying a bite to eat after a long beach walk, while still on the beach, is probably our favorite pleasure of the trip.

We headed back to town after the beach to look for a place to hang out for the evening. On the way we stopped at Target to get a new tooth brush and so that Remy could pick out a Lego set. This was Remy's first trip to a big box store as far as we could remember. It was very exciting for him. He had most of the Lego sets laying out on the floor so that he could compare and contrast the different options. He eventually picked a tractor and a turtle rescue scene. Dad was pulling for Star Wars spaceships but Remy was not feeling the sci-fi theme.

With our errands done we parked near Funk Zone and set out on our stroll. The Funk Zone is a restaurant/wine/brewery/art district that is somewhat similar to the warehouse wine district in Woodinville. Our requirements for the evening were simple:
1. Outdoor seating
2. Dog friendly
3. Something that everyone could eat
4. A table without slats so Remy could build Legos.

After much walking we decided on a food court that had two wineries, two breweries
(one of which was named Llama Dog), and a fancy sandwich/burger shop. They also served our favorite snack, giant soft pretzels. Something for everyone indeed.
