Our second day in San Fran was as jam packed as the first. We started our day with coffee (as all good days start), this time heading to Ritual roasters and then making a quick espresso stop at Linea roasters on recommendation from Erin. Now fully caffeinated, we walked to Clarion street alley to look at the street art. Much of the current art was focused on the different forms of inequality that are present in the United States. Remy asked 'what does this mean' about every piece, and we did our best to explain them to him.
Next we went to a playground downtown for some child exercise. It was a very nice playground with lots of slides and things to climb on. The public parks in San Francisco (and in all of our California stops) have had some of the most interesting playgrounds we've come across.
We had not gotten a chance to ride a cable car yet, something high on Remy's to-do list, so our next stop was xxx station to hop on. We waited in line for 30 minutes or so (we didn't see theine get any shorter at any point in time) and got to listen to a lively accordion player while we waited. We road the car up to the top of the hill and then hopped off to walk back to Lombard street. For those that don't know, Lombard is the curviest street in the world. We can confirm that it is indeed very curvy.
Once we were back down to sea level we took Emma for a walk and then sat down for dinner and drinks with an excellent view of the water. Our visits to San Francisco was drawing to a close, and although we had enjoyed our time in the city, we felt that it just wasn't the place for us. We were much more comfortable in Death Valley or some of the smaller towns like Morro Bay. A stop in the city for a day or two (and for coffee!) Was welcome, but we found ourselves quickly overwhelmed with the crowds, traffic, and endless distractions plying for our attention.
