Dad woke up in the middle of the night to an absolutely monsterous thunderstorm. The lightening flashes were illuminating the entire trailer and the thunder rumbled for three to five seconds each time. None of the lightning strikes were very close, but they were very, very bright. In addition, the rain was coming down with gusto. Dad was really hoping that Dean wasn't out in the storm and having to repair their patched window.
We were happy to discover in the morning that no water had leaked into the Zimmermann mobile.
After breakfast we went up to Lake Minnewanka for a hike. Dad and Emma stayed in the car and did crosswords because our Achilles (mostly Dad's) were sore. On the drive up we saw a herd of big horn sheep! By all accounts the hike was lovely.
After the hike The rain continued to drizzle on us, so we took it relatively easy around the campsite. The kids played Ninja training when it wasn't too rainy, and had Legos and other activities to do inside when it did start to pour.
We wrapped up the day with a salmon dinner and noted how incredibly long the sky stayed light. Even at close to 11 o clock pm the darkness was just starting to set in. One of the benefits of being so far north!
