We awoke to almost no rain! A real treat. The first item on our list was coffee, so right at 9am sharp Dean fired up his generator and espresso machine and we got down to latte business. Now that we were all wide awake Dad whipped up his patent pending mega burritos for the adults.
Everyone finished their breakfast and we packed into the car to hike (1 mile round trip) at Takkakaw Falls. The road up to the falls is a bit twisty with a lot of switchbacks. At one point the trucks were two long to make the corner, so we had to do two point turns to get going up the road again. We later learned that the recommendation for this spot is actually to drive up one switch back and then reverse up the next one. This way you don't have to turn so much. That seemed plenty scary to all of us.
Wrangling our entire party of two dogs, three kids, and four adults takes a few minutes but we were eventually able to get everyone pointed in the right direction and headed down the trail. Dad decided to remain at the foot of the falls while everyone else headed up. Quite a view! Luckily the falls aren't hidden so you get a pretty good view even from the parking lot.
After the hike we drove to lake lodge. Mom, Kelly, Roz, and Emma went for a hike around the lake while the boys and Regan went to the cafe for lunch. Dean sampled the local poutine, with brisket, and dad had the brisket sandwich. Both excellent. When the moms had finished their hike we headed back down to our campsite for naps, evening activities, and dinner.
Todd, Lindsey, and Tiger joined us in the evening for dinner. Our party is finally fully assembled.
