No Rabbits in Canadia pt. 9

Today was tram day so we were very disappointed when we woke up to rain and lots and lots of clouds. We pivoted and decided to go for a hike in the AM with the hope of clearer skies in the afternoon.

Dad decided that today was a good day to brave a hike. It was only 4.4 kms. The trail turned out to be exceptionally muddy and with lots of ups and downs. It was the slowest 4.4 km hike ever. The trail wove back and forth over a slot canyon with a river running down the middle. We crossed several bridges and saw waterfalls running down the rock, out of the rock, and going every which way.

By the time we finished the hike it was sunny and warm. Everyone was now carrying several layers of clothing that had been shed during the hike. We jumped in our cars and agreed to meet at the tram in an hour.

We could see the tram from our campsite and had watched it go up and down several times. When everyone was situated in the parking lot we headed aboard. The tram holds up to 25 people but there were only about 14 people on ours. Not too crowded. The skies had now mostly cleared and we had an excellent view of the surrounding mountain range, the lakes, and the town. The campsite we were staying at was also visible and our team operator told us that the campsite, when full, was about the same population as the town of Jasper.

At the top we tried to walk on the boardwalk but the sun was absolutely blinding when reflecting off the snow. We had also been told that there had been no snow the previous week and that all of the snow we saw on the mountains fell on Monday. The light seems to have done something strange to Remy's face.

The Simons and the Zimmermanns retreated to the restaurant while Todd, Lindsey, and Tiger went for a short walk (no dogs in the restaurant, although Tiger was a champ on the tram). We headed back down after a quick lunch.
Our party split up again at the bottom, with half the group going to town while the Simons's headed back to camp to take the dogs for a walk and start packing up. When everyone returned we prepped our final night steak dinner and had an enormous feast under the setting sun. We waved goodnight to the mountains and headed to bed after a very full day.
