In a shocking twist, we did not go out for breakfast or coffee today. Instead we had oatmeal and pregroumd coffee from the Mr. Coffee machine in our air BNB. Somehow we were able to survive these hardships and press on with the day.
Our Air BNB includes free use of the Faro beach club, a spa and pool just down the road that sits right on the beach. We decide to take advantage in order to get some shady beach lounging time in and so Remy could get additional swimming practice. We arrived right at opening and had the pool to ourselves for a while. Eventually we were joined by more families, and Remy made a new friend. Three year old Lilly Bo of Laguna Beach California was exceptionally talkative and outgoing, filling us in on all the details of her life while Remy worked through his initial shyness. Eventually he warmed up and they played several game together, including hiding things in cups and a sort of catch game where Lilly Bob would throw Remy's foam rocket and he would retrieve it. Good swimming practice.
Lilly Bo was a bit of a daredevil and everyone had pitch in to keep a close eye on her as one of her favorite things to do was launch herself off the steps into the middle of the pool. She could sort of kind of swim, but not at a level that anyone was comfortable with.
After several hours of playing in the pool/sum both Remy and Lilly Bo were getting very tired (not to mention all the moms and dads). We said good bye and headed back to home base to rest for a bit.
For dinner we went downtown to La Casita, a tapas restaurant owned by a Mexican gentleman who previously lived in Bend, Oregon. He talked to us about how Todos Santos has changed and where he was looking to move next. He said that El Salvador was high on his list and this happened to be the second time in a few months that it was mentioned as a great place to live thanks to their new president. Although the downtown area of Todos Santos seems to be retaining its character, there are more and more house sprawling out around it, and our host stated that the number of restaurants that had opened up after COVID lockdowns eased was something like 10x what was here before. Hopefully the local government can find a way to continue development without endangering the town or the locals that call it home.
