Remy in the Redwoods 7

Today was a day of much walking! We had plans for a sushi dinner so we knew we had to walk up a big appetite. There were lots of spots we wanted to see so Mom plotted them out for us and we headed out.

Our day trip took us to:

  • Arch rock view point - There was a viewpoint. It had an excellent view of a rock that looked like an arch. This was one of the top 10 arch rocks that we've ever seen. Maybe top 7.
  • Secret beach - This beach was not a well kept secret as there were several other cars in the parking lot. However, the parking lot wasn't marked. The hike down was treacherous, and then final twenty feet or so was very treacherous! We had to scramble down some steep rocks but everyone made it safely and we had a particular section of beach to ourselves. Everyone else had gone to the left to the larger beach, but we elected to go to the right into a more private spot. Many interesting rocks were observed.
  • Natural Bridges - This was the most interesting rock formation (in Dad's opinion) as there were a series of bridges formed by rock that connected other rocks together. The hike down to the bridges was too steep and the soil was too loose, so we were content to observe the bridges from the view point.
  • House Rock Viewpoint - We're not quite sure what House Rock looks like because we decided to hike into the woods instead of going to look at the rock. Our hike was lovely, winding between the trees while we moved south along the coast. Eventually we turned toward the water and popped out on top of a very large rock covered in grass. Everyone agreed that it looks very much like photos of Ireland/Scotland. Perhaps a good prep of our June trip.

After so much walking we were ravenous! We drove downtown and parked in front of our predetermined sushi restaurant. We were lucky that right nextdoor was a small boardgame shop. Remy tried out the arcade machine while Dad browsed and Mom got into a very in-depth conversation with the shop owner. He was a chatty fellow and it took a while for us to excuse ourselves. Our dinner was lovely and we got more than enough food to dig ourselves out of our caloric deficit. Remy absolutely demolished a hamburger and some bacon (it was part of the burger but he requested it on the side). When we got back to the trailer it was time for some reading and snoozing.
