Thats, "The Best Bed N Breakfast Ever."
Since it was Christmas time, and no one wants to spend Christmas alone, we had booked ourselves into the New River Bluegums BnB based soley on the pictures on their website and the fact that they served warm cookies upon arrival. Well we didn't get any cookies, we got brownies, so things were off to a good start from the moment we arrived. They even let us check in early because we needed to shower. Our accomodation was exceptional, a self contained unit about one hundred yards away from the main house. It had everything that we wanted, including a fridge/freezer, range and all of the kitchen utensils one could want. Compared to everywhere else we'd stayed, this place was heaven. Our hosts, Sharon and Michael, made sure that we had everything we needed, from fresh towels to a plate of sweets on Christmas eve. They even invited us to Christmas dinner with their family when they found out we didn't have any plans. Their son Harry, who's 2.5, let me play with his toys Christmas morning when he found out I didn't have any. Staying at the NRBG was like staying with family, we were warmly greeted everymorning for breakfast, which was an amazing combination of cold cereal, fresh fruit, omellette, tomatoes and always some kind of meat. Not only that but on christmas morning we recieved gifts and a souped up croissant laiden breakfast accompanied by all the wine and bubbles we could drink (Maria was astounded by the wine for breakfast idea). The grounds also featured a tennis court, sheep and cows, and the ugliest piggy on the planet. A seriously hairy beast, he appeared to have crawled out of some child's nightmare and taken up residence in the back pen on the farm, Maria loved him. On the morning of our departure, we talked for a while about the superior quality of their establishment compared to that of other places we had stayed. They told us that several of the other BnBs were run by old ladies who liked to be cliquee, keeping to themselves and trying to impose a monopoly like grip on the business, we were definately glad that NRBG hadn't joined up with them. We were only at NRBG for three short nights, but it was definately the nicest accomodation we've seen. If you're in the neighborhood, I would definately, without a doubt, give them a call. Make sure you book early, they're busy all year round.
