R&R in Utah - Day 7

Today's hike was our longest scheduled of the trip. We got up, ate breakfast, packed our bags and hit the trail. Actually, we drove around the ridiculously small parking lot at the trail head for a while trying to find space for two trucks. We got lucky and didn't have to wait too long. Parking two trucks is not always easy.

The fairyland loop trail went down Into the canyon and then back up along several ridges. This afforded a much more expansive view of the canyon vs. yesterday's hike. The walls of the canyon were made up segmented pieces of rock that resembled an ancient city. Remy and I told stories about the "prairie dog city" and all the prairie dog adventurers.

The loop eventually follow along a high ridge before ending at the sunset campground. From here we had a two mile trek along the ridge back to the trailhead. Despite the name being "ridge trail" there was very little walking along the actual ridge. Remy and Regan were able to walk at this point and finished off the last mile plus on foot.

We went home to a much less Windier campsite. It was still chilly, but with no wind we were able to bundle up for dinner. Remy and Regan went on a hunt around our campsite for a rogue ghost who was knocking down trees. We were able to catch him in a coffee cup until he learned his lesson about not hurting the forest.

Tomorrow we head south to Lake Powell.
