- Don’t do something you don’t want to just because someone calls you chicken.
- Don’t eat too many sweets, they don’t provide the fuel your body needs.
- Say your “pleases” and “thanks yous.” They feel just as good to say as they do to hear!
- Sometimes it is better to lend a hand to fix things instead of always asking for change.
- Facing your fears can lead to fun discoveries (they got lost in a cave, not sure I agree with this one).
- Focusing too much on making money can distract you from enjoying life.
- Don’t ignore your responsibilities or they might get out of hand quickly.
- TV is okay as a treat, but too much distracts from everything that makes life exciting.
- Think about how you can give to others, not just how you can get things yourself.
- Neat and tidy is good, but efficiency is important too!
I’m guessing Remy learned just about everything he needs to know from our bear friends, so we’ll probably skip school until 6th grade or so.
The weather has been mostly cooperative with just a bit of rain on the first day. Otherwise we drove through some fog and lots of sun, especially after we crossed the Oregon/California border. Both children have been very well behaved. Louie did spill mom's coffee this morning but we forgave him because it was in a rather precarious spot to begin with.
Our second night's accommodation is up on top of a hill at a camel farm. Remy and Louie were both very excited to see the camels. There are also chickens, alpacas, donkeys, and two very friendly dogs. All of the animals seemed as interested in Remy as he was in them. There is minimal light pollution here so we were able to do some stargazing as well. A very nice accommodation after so long in the car.
One more day of driving tomorrow and we'll get a break for a week before we have to hit the road again.
