Bookin' down to Baja 17 - A tour of the house

We haven't taken the opportunity to give folks a tour of our residence, and a midweek post seems like the best opportunity for that.

Our apartment is just outside of town, about two miles to the south west of the downtown area. The road turns to dirt about a mile further past our place, although there are still some very large residences on the dirt road (also some fancy hotels). Our building is two stories, with the upper floor being our three bedroom apartment and the lower floor being a studio apartment. The owners of the building live next door. There are a mix of house types in our neighborhood, with some lots having just a camper or mobile home on them, and other lots built up with some monster houses. The road down to the beach from our building is dirt, and most of the traffic is workers and landscapers driving from the main road to the houses closer to the beach. This traffic is light and the road is plenty wide enough for foot and motor traffic.

The stairs from the entrance to the building lead up to a small porch with a couch and coffee table. We use this porch primarily for storing out beach equipment. The porch has two doors, one leading to the kitchen/dining/living room, and the other going into a bedroom. This bedroom has been converted into Remy's Lego room. No sleeping in here unless you have a yellow plastic head

Porch.

The kitchen is small but highly functional. It has a large sink, a range/oven, a coffee maker, and a medium sized fridge/freezer. The living room has a dining table, two small couches, and a coffee table that is also covered in Legos. We moved the dining table up against the wall to make room for playing...Legos. Down the hall to the left of the kitchen is the entrance to the aforementioned Lego room, and a door to the master bedroom. Further down the hall is a full bathroom, and a door to the third bedroom/office. There is also a storage room at the end of the hall that we dumped all our empty bins in. The master bedroom also has a second full bathroom.

The floors and walls are all cement, and they collect sand and dog hair like crazy. The cement does make cleanup nice and easy though. The interior stays relatively cool, and we only use the AC in the bedroom sparingly.

On tuesday afternoon we went for a long beach walk, and then returned to 5 Tacos and a Beer for dinner.

Lots of dinosaurs on the beach this evening.
Dad had a burger instead of tacos.

On Wednesday we went for a family beach walk, and then headed for Tunas Coffee Shop (the coffee place one street over from us).

Remy is a big fan of posing for pictures now.

After breakfast Mom and Remy went to Punta Lobos beach to watch fisherman boats! The boats drive right up onto the beach and it is quite a show to see them motoring as fast as possible to drive their boats up onto the shore. Remy also stopped to grab our clean laundry on the way home. It is nice to put on shorts that aren't full of sand.

Video!

In the evening we went for another walk, practiced our beach yoga, and made veggie pasta at home.
