Roadtrip Remy Rides Again pt. 5

We took our time leaving Bozeman Hot Springs as Mom was still feeling quite under the weather. Dad and Remy had avoided anything serious so far but there isn't a lot of options for keeping our distance.

Our first stop after leaving was the Museum of the Rockies. They have an enormous dinosaur fossil exhibit that Remy absolutely loved. There is a T-Rex skeleton and a triceratops skeleton, as well as a ton of information about fossil hunting, paleontology, and dinosaurs. I think we read almost all of the placards. Dad's voice was quite hoarse by the end.
After about 45 minutes of dinosaurs we went to the planetarium for a show about the planets. The video was about two kids who built a rocket out of cardboard boxes and travelled through the solar system. It was a nice experience because we got to sit down and Dad didn't have to read anything. Remy was a bit worried when the rocket landed on Mars and a dust storm kicked up, but luckily everything turned out okay and we were able to stick it out to the end.

We exited the planetarium and went straight back to the dinosaurs as there were a few info-videos that Remy needed to finish up before we could move on. He is thorough.

We did a quick walk through the history of Yellowstone section and then looked in on the kids Yellowstone experience exhibit but it was closed for the lunch hour and we didn't feel like waiting for another 30 minutes. We went to the gift shop instead. Something tells me that isn't a bad strategy on the museum's part.

With one museum done for the day we drove a few more miles to the grizzly bear rescue. The rescue seems like a good deal for the bears as they are all animals that have been rehomed after horrendous treatment from people, including living in a tiny cage for 15 years. Remy was unable to comprehend how the bear could live in the cage that small, and the fact that it was able to for such a long time is a testament to their resilience. There is just one bear out in the viewing area at a time, but you get an outstanding view and the bears are very entertaining to watch. There is also a very long safety talk about dealing with bears in the wild. Remy's attention was unshakeable during the talk. If anyone needs bear advice he is your dude.

With our knowledge receptors full for the day we made a quick grocery stop and then completed the final 50 minutes of our drive. Our RV spot for the night is just outside Yellowstone so we will be up early tomorrow to head into the park.
